At The Table! #Together
From Reggie Hill, M. Ed. –
Great Day, Good People! For today’s topic discussion, I have chosen “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”. Let’s examine the “basic roots”, first:
· Teamwork: when combined action is effective and efficient
· Makes: causing to exist
· Dream: a cherished ideal and expectation
· Work: purpose driven mental and physical effort
When I was a younger child, any of my Parents’ Siblings and most adults who were close (connected and well known) to either side of my Family were able to discipline (whoop) me and were able to feed me (with food or wisdom). There was never a concern about me traveling places with them. And, if the situation or hope called for it, I could sleepover at their dwellings as well. Times were very different than what they appear to be now.
Last week we covered the idea of “Radical Hospitality”. This is primarily what led me (this week) to discuss the “Dream Team”, if you will.
(Focusing on Faith) Scripture insists:
· Matthew 18:19 – Again I assure you that if two of you agree on Earth about anything you ask, then my Father who is in Heaven will do it for you.
Right here in this one moment, God Almighty affirms that the strength of our (individual) ambitions rests with the collaboration of our (collective) ideas. And, in God like fashion… we see that the minimal amount is far more than enough, particularly for believers (think Mustard Seed).
For those who walk (fully) in faith, you merely need one more like-minded individual to witness the miraculous happenings that only dreams might produce, in any other circumstance.
In “S4TF” we present an activity that compares a High School Drum Major to the President of the United States. Before you offer assertions that these are apples and oranges, let’s examine the unique similarities. Much Like the President’s Cabinet, the Drum Major has Captains, Section Leaders, and Squad Leaders, alike. In showcases the Judge asks the Drum Major if their band is ready for competition (to take the field). Much like the U. S. Military waits on the go ahead from the President. We don’t even have to mention travel, lodging, food, discipline/order, uniforms, and general morality and approval ratings. While there is a huge age difference… for the season of human endeavor there are many comparisons.
While a leader is normally at the forefront of any instance, there are always those behind the scene to make things work best. Though there is much that we can do on our own, there is very little (of significant impact) that we can do without the assistance and agreement of others.
(Focusing on Faith) Scripture insists:
· Philippians 4:8 – Finally believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
Can you imagine a combination more valuable than this, as explained in that Verse, right above? And surely, when you walk with these virtues—greatness is in store for you. The expectation of more than one, with the same ideals is unimaginable. Sure, we have moments where we exude most of these attributes. But, to reflect all of them with someone else, with attention on the same objective or goal… that creates a platform for manifestation that most never experience.
Sometimes life calls for you to stand alone. And there is nothing wrong with that. But when your team 9within embodies the facets of life that are true; honorable; worthwhile; respectful; right; pure; wholesome; lovely; peaceful; admirable; noble; and positively-excellent… you have an assembly that is unmatched! When you have a unit, on the same page, you witness a fellowship that is unstoppable.
As you venture into a new week, don’t be afraid to seek assistance. As well, don’t be afraid to surrender your last, in efforts of making an inconvenience a bit easier for your neighbor. The reward for teaming up is one that surpasses the understanding of one. While one can be different, it is when we work together that we see a desired difference.
Let us learn to be experts of our craft… but to also lean on those who are experts in fields we may not be the best in. As a President I may have a passion for Housing and Urban Development. And I could have worked on local issues involving the same. But, my Administration is its best when I have the best leading such a Department, advising me on the imperative decisions to make on behalf of all those effected.
Lastly, remember that your choices do just contribute to your own quality of life. We each influence the lifestyles of one another. May our actions reflect the holistic idea that we are one. Though with many faces, personalities, convictions, and challenges… our strength is found most in our alliance
KEEP BEING GREAT, GOOD PEOPLE!
